So, now that I have my whole rear end disassembled awaiting on axle bearings to arrive in mail, figured I would do some cleaning on the rear components (sprocket, brake stay, axle nut, rotor). But I cant seems to get them clean. Its like a stained on mud color. I really dont feel like polishing them, as they are OK with the orig color. But whats the best way to clean them? What solvents to use?

I have tried Greased Lightning full strength and I still got the mud stained look.

Or, if there is no way to get that off, what would be my long run conclusion to just sanding and spray painting the parts? Think it would just chip?

I know I can PC them, but dont really have the money at the time...

simple green or purple power, pressure washer, dish washing scrub pad or brillo pad for the tuff stuff.

nevermind, just went out and did a quick half-butt polish job. Looks quite ok though, matches my LSR carrier at least. Here is a pic, I just stuck it in to see what it looks like.

Reason I did a "quick" polish job is I ride in alot of mud and trails, really no point in doing a mirror like polish.

Dremel is your friend :D

lookin good!

When I did alot of "off" road atving...lol... after I washed it, Id armor all everything....or wd40 everything.

Then when it got dirty, all I had to do was hit it with the pressure cleaner and everything comes right off.

It also helps if your atv suddenly ends up sitting in the garage for a few weeks, atleast you prepared it before you put it away.
