my 06 er wont start. i can hear the starter spinning so i took it out and it seemed fine. now went in deeper. have the whole clutch side cover off and some gears spin, some dont. which ones should be and which ones shouldnt? and why doesnt it seem to engage and turn the motor over?

The gears that lead up to the starter should only spin one way. If they spin both, or not at all, the starter clutch is bad. The starter clutch is the big gear in front of the clutch pack.

mines an 07, I ordered 11394-hp1-600 the gasket & 28125-mey-671 the one way clutch. Is that all I need? Thanx just ordered from service honda. wanta make sure thats all I need

these are the parts you need, this is a good deal if no one else bids, plus the gasket. most of the time all parts are out of spec and no sense doing it half way

ya know I saw that, I thought I saw another post & I needed only those items I mentioned. Thanx I'll have to call back & get the rest. TTYL

you might ask your honda dealer if yours is one that they had a recal for. I know several in my area were recalled and they put new startes and gears on them for free.

I did that - it expired almost 2 years ago. I have two 07's - mine was done soon after I bought it & had the valves ck'd. The other is my sons. We got that used & don't know if the owner had the work done. This quad did qualify but - It needs to be done. the starter just whines.

my 06 has a starting problem it seems like it wont spin fast enough and somtimes dose nothing. is there a mod that will fix it? or do i just buy that kit and it will be fine? i have the most truble when its cold out

Seems like thats it. Like noted above u need the gasket pn# 11394-hp1-600. It will take u a bit to do it. I ordered thru servicehonda.com
Make sure your battery has a good charge & u start in neutral before buying anything.
