Not to start a pissing match here but 250x

So a friend of mine has a 250x(one of a few bikes), stone stock.. He swares that a friend of his raced a 400ex, walked the dog on it.. I have repeatedly told him thats BS, but he is staying on his word.. How fast are these 250x's? I know damn well they will not hang with a stock 400 in a flat out drag..

250x they are fast......

stock vs stock a 350x is faster then a 400ex.

but a 250x....maybe.....not likly.....unless the 400ex had no traction?....or a bad rider?

Ohh wow, I knew they were quick, but not this quick, maybe i should shut my face, lmao.. Ima have to try and find a 400ex for him to run, so I can see it for my self.. HMMM

But first thing first, ima race my friend on his yz5 450, with a full pipe, jet kit. I think he is going to get me, but it is going to be a 300ft race..

i know when i had my built 300, i could walk all over my friends 400s that were piped on the track or in the woods. 300ex and 250x motors can be built to be pretty stout. not sure if a stock one could beat a 400 though, that would have to be a very experienced rider in my opinion.

I would drop it off a cliff. a 250x is a underpowered 300 in stock form. if he has done some major porting bumped up the compression, put a full exhaust on it and all that good stuff it would run with a stock 400. they are corked up with small ports and such on them and even worse on the 300ex. as far as i am concerned a stock 400 should beat a 250x 95% of the time. the 5% left would be for the circumstances that go with 1000's of dollars being spent on it. lol. just my .02 though, agree to disagree with some lol. steve

agreed. a 250x should have the same chance as a snowball in hell when compared stock vs stock against a 400ex.

You sure It's a 250X, Maybe it's a 250R he's referring to, that would be more believable. A 250x should stay on the porch in my neck of the woods or hes gonna get stomped.

Back in the old days I raced my brand new 1996 300ex against my buddies well worn bone stock 1987 250x. Top speeds were pretty much the same. About 50mph top speed. Although the 250x was rated like half a horse less than a 300ex it has a higher rev limiter and a slightly more open exhaust which will let it slowly crawl away from a 300ex.
As far as going up against a stock 400ex its about 11 horsepower and 15mph short.
I eventually ended up with a ported 406 engine which did 27hp on a mustang dyno which was a even match for a 400ex plus it had reverse. Man what a waste of money but didnt have much chioce in the 90's.

stock for stock, the 400ex will pull every gear on the 250. The 250 would need some port work and at the very least a high compression piston and cam to be on a somewhat level playing field.
