Has anybody took a V-twin 450- 550 Aprila dirtbike motor and put in Atv frame? been thinking this would be the baddest Hybred myself. its a lightweight compact(world,s smallest) 450-550 motors in there enduro racebikes that put out 70hp stock.

Well, I've been thinking about it. Here's a few pics of what I have in mind. The picture is of a Laeger YZ with a RXV450. I also bought a sxv550 bike just in case the conversion works........ Your right this is a very wicked compact package.

I don't know about how the pivot and chain alighnment look because its hard to tell from a pic. But that looks like it would be one badass conversion if it could be done.

Well what you see is about as far as I've gotten with it. I'm pretty sure the motor will fit with some customization of a few parts but there is a lot of stuff to put in the frame, oil tank, radiator, fuel pump, extra cylinder, huge intake, did I mention dual exhaust. I know it can be done I just haven't dug into it yet. Maybe once the KTM/Laeger and FI CRF/Laeger are complete I'll dive in.....

in your last photo it looks like the motor would have to clock around clockwise to get the counter shaft sprocket in a decent location, which will creat problems with your intake...

but i agree it would be nuts if you could gety it to work

If someone wants to provide the funding I'll do all the fab. Haha

time and money are the only things I see that are standing in the way

Strong motors if you have deep pockets for the maintance. I used to won supermotor bikes and 75% of the appes i saw blew with little time on them

If you read it.. I think you'll see he isn't sure that is what he is going to do with that frame/motor and he has two other projects he is working on. I actually think it looks b/a but I would use 250r geometry and build a total custom frame for it since it has the street bike style intake system and could use just a touch more room from the pics, But I'm sure you can be creative either way.
