I'm thinking about ordering up a new rear shock for the R. I did the 450R rear swingarm swap using the 450 linkage and dogbone. When I order up the rear shock tell them I did this swap? Will they valve it like a 450R?

Also will the 05 450R rear shock work on the R? I'm pretty sure the ressy is shifted to one side for the intake to clear.

Thanks
Joe

Bought a 1987 TRX250r last year with a 450r rear shock on it. All other components were 250r: swingarm, linkage, frame, etc.

It did fit, but was tight. The reservoir rubbed hard on the exhaust pipe. The main problem, tho was the shock was too short and this made the rear end sit lower than I like. Shock length from eye to eye was about 1.5"-2" shorter than stock if I remember correctly.

So with a 450r swingarm the question is: Does the 450r linkage make up for the shock being too short? I would bet that it does not...

from what I have read, using the 450r linkage is supposed to help raise the quad back up. check the mod sticky at the top of the page...

I just did this mod on my 87' for XC I used the 450r swinger, axle, brakes, both links and the rear Axis shock that came off the 450. When I first fit it, it was too high for my taste that's when I noticed that the 250r rear link mounting point is further from the frame than a 450, so we cut that mount off and modified it to be closer to the 450's dimensions, I believe this will give me the right set-up to run the 450's link(mine is a GT Thunder xc link)also it is all 06 and up parts alittle longer than the 04-05 450's. Hope to get it off the lift soon and get some pics, need my a-arm bushings now. If you don't want to weld on your frame I'd suggest staying with the 250r linkage and shocks, my .02

I'm curious how this is going to sit ont he ground?? Can anyone get me a measurement of the distance from the swingarm, by the bearing carrier, to the back of the subframe ona stock swingger 250R. Need measurement with suspensionhanging free.

I think I'm just going to have the stocker revalved. Any recomendations? Hygear, GT Thunder, Anywhere else?

Thanks
