Ok, ive come to the conclusion that the canon set up needed more depth of field due to the close proximity of the dog to me and the focal lengths/lens in use. I could have moved back, but im too tired from the travel yesterday so I just added ISO to allow me a few more stops of aperature.

Cody used this Canon yesterday. I think after some more testing and tweaking it will suit him well

I feel the canon is just a bit better quality after seeing the shots just taken. steve

i think after you edit your images they are close but as far as raw images the canon seems to take a better shot

the background on the canon is better for sure, especially with the truck shots. if you didnt say which one was which you could tell which is better in my opinion. Although i like to be able to see the full pic instead of the foreground only. Alot of it imo depends on the lens used though. some of the races shots you take are perfect all the way through but it is most likely a bigger lens than you are using now on your nikon. I am not sure though, steve

Actually, the Canon images straight from the camera required more work then the Nikon on the images I have worked on:p We are also comparing a Canon pro level DSLR to a Consumer Nikon:D

Both at ISO 200 for the comparison shots

Settings were all at 1/1000th between f5.6 and f6.3

VR and IS were turned off

Same focal length lenses were used

Same internal camera tweaks were programmed

Looks like a pretty fair assesment

Gauge beats the hell out of poor trooper. he will work his way up the ladder but Moose still rules the roost
