What do you already have done? i voted for the shocks but it is hard to call without knowing what you have done already. steve

Not sure exactly what all it has but I do know of these hop up parts that are on it.

Nerf Bars with Heal Guards
Aftermarket Front Bumper
Teather Switch
Twist Throttle
Swingarm Skid Plate
Handle Bars

Supposed to have a 440 kit installed.

if there is a 440 kit installed then a full exhaust would be first on the list to let it breathe a bit more. then a cam to go with it. then you can work on the suspension. you might as well get the most out of the motor first then ride with the new shocks and have a blast. bars would be a good choice too, to help with the vibrations a bit. steve

i said shocks because thats definitely where the 400ex lacks

But if its already a 440 i would get a pipe to

Just as honda400ex2003 said
I would get the pipe and shocks then a cam or all three at once you can get a hot cam for like 140$$
u can get a set of 450r fronts for 150$$ mayb a lil less

and a full pipe well depends on what pipe u want a full curtis sparks is like 550$$ straight from sparks web site

I want a new exhaust so that will most likley be the next upgrade. I am just not wanting to spend over 500 on one. Any others out there that is a little cheaper

If this motor already has a cam in it will it have markings on it?

yeah it should, at least for sure if it is a hot cam. if it is anything else i am not sure. a good give away is if it has the decompression mechanism on it still it is the stock one. if not then it is aftermarket. steve

Send your 400EX shocks to GT Thunder for a re-valve and re-spring. You won't regret it.

If i were you, i'd just buy a slip on to save the cash and then buy the cam you need with the money your saving...full systems are good but sometimes just not worth the extra money in my opinion
