Got any? post them here! Weather its for looks or performance. We all know this economy is bad, and some don't have all the extra $$$ for expensive mods. Just thought it would be neat to see what things we can do to our quads that don't cost a whole lot. Things such as:

the spal fan install
polishing/painting parts
air filter / jet kits

etc.

depend on how much you mean is expensive. but, i think handlebars is a must for the 400ex. even the cheap aftermarket bars are better than stock.

Removing the choke and grinding the header welds are good free mods, especially when paired with an exhaust and filter.

You can ditch your airbox, put a $9 small filter on your crank case breather, plug your whole for the resinator/crank breather on your intake boot, remove your silencer if you have a stock exhaust, you can even drill out your jets if you cant buy some.

So for basically $9 you can be faster then any stock 400ex.

If your cable's break by the lil ball, you can use a solider gun to fix it or even put a weld bead on it.

you can rewire coils and rev box's from the junkyard or old bikes you have laying around, if you need those.

Ill think of more later.....lol.

What does an external crankcase breather help over the stock setup?

These are all good ideas. Keep them coming!

I just thought this would be good for some folks out there who may not have much money, out of a job (been there, done that), or just overall dont want to fork out much on their quads. And, some of our riders are young, probably still in school and definiatly dont have jobs.

good work

It helps by putting cleaner air into the intake, instead of recycling old air through the motor, also making your carb pull more air, only a little bit tho.

Alot of dirtbikes just have a tube that runs down under the frame for a breather.

what do you mean by cleaner??

Instead of your intake sucking recycled air from your crankcase, it sucks more fresh air through your intake, also allowing your crank case to not build up any back pressure.

IDK...it works though.
