the outer metal race of the bearing was stuck inside my carrier, as you can see in this picture, i dremeled it out pretty well, just a few nicks in it. The part for the dust seal is all chewed up from the bearing though. I put new bearings and seals in anyway, hopefully it lasts a little while until i get a dual row carrier!!!

dang that sucks. ebay bearing eh'? Well I hope the bearings I just now ordered from ebay hold up good. But they are dual row bearings for my LSR billet carrier. I would think the twin rows would hold up better, even the ebay ones. I guess we'll see....

do you have a dual row carrier? they may not work if it is a regular carrier. the duals are wider than the regs. steve

yu should have put silicone or loctite liquid metal retaining compound where the gouges are to prevent the bearing from failing prematurely.

man that sucks. Double wide bearing carriers are the way to go. I've had mine for prolly 3 years and no problems I just make sure the lock nut stays nice and tight.

i also recommend waterproof/marine grade bearing grease. it works great. and it is good practice to check around your seals to see if dirt is hanging around it. if you follow my point.

heres a great tip, when you get new bearings take the seals off, pack it full of grease and re install the seals. You will be suprised on how little grease there is in there. I even got a bearing once that had NO GREASE AT ALL IN IT. I have been doing this for years and i get longer life from the bearings.

yeah, my uncle raced motocross in the 70's and he said that he used to have a needle that would inject greaseinto the bearings between the seal and the metal race, that would be pretty sweet, i'd think.
