Quick Question!! 400ex axle on a 450r?

I have been doing this a VERY long time, so.....
Its a little embarrasing not knowing the answer to this question!

Can a 400ex and 450r run the same axle?
Is it the same carrier?

my buddy has a 05 and we put the axle from my 04 400 and it worked fine and he still rides it with no problems

i guess they will physically '"fit" but the sprocket hub doesnt fit flush into the carrier,theres gonna be a slight gap with a 400ex axle in a 450r carrier,i used this set up on a hybrid of mine and it worked fine because i could position the motor however i had to for sprocket alignment,wont be easy to do with the factory motor already mounted;)

in a nutshell the taper on the sprocket hubs r different but will work in the right situation:)
