since 1990 i keep hearing of people having 250r's in a crate always end up being a hoax, if anyone has current pics please post them for everyone to see. now i keep hearing banshee in crate local dealer claims but can't produce it to be seen. also another local honda dealer always claimed they had an 89 "R" in the crate myth was busted.

they just had pics up on here about the 85 atc in the crate. Was awesome to see that. There was a dealer down here with a MINT and i mean MINT 89 250r (i think that was the year model) on the floor while they were open. I dont know what happened to it after they shut down. it was the all white one with white hood i think. Id have to see pics to make sure of the year.

I hijacked these a while back, I think it's what mineral was referring to. I don't know who the owner is, maybe they'll chime in.

thats the ones I was thinking of. I read on another site on atvconnection.com about him getting this. I looked in his garage and according to it he has mint trx 250r's, mint 200x, and a few others.

i heard about banshees being hoarded when they stopped manufacturing them. i believr about the motors in a box. there was a guy on ebay selling about 200 honda bikes from the 80s that where showroom condition.

also, i would love to have a new 250r. i heard they ran for 10 years for some people without any major failures. HONDA=RELIABILITY!

That is just awesome! hope it was left in the crate! is there any more atv's or atc's out there still in the crate like that atc , any brand or type would be great to see.

I really lucked out getting the '86 ATC R in the crate. Here also is a Yamaha Tri Z 250 three wheeler, '86 as well I think. It's over in the UK if memory serves me.

that is a great collection you have there especially when you get the others completed. could only imagine your excitment when you picked up your 86 atc in that condition, is it still in the crate or did you assemble it , wow tough decision. this is my 88

Very nice '88 you've got. Congrats on that gem.
I will never assemble the crated ATC R. It is just sitting up on top of one of my racks.
Here's a couple more pics. I'm actually going to ride the '89 project bike tomorrow.

Mine ran for 20 years untouched. First time my motor was tore into was 5 months ago for the first over-bore.

That's awesome stuff Andy! Hey I saw you on QuadracerHQ forum. Do you have any restored LT250r's, I would love to see those pics? I started on an 87 LT and have always been a little partial to them... I just picked up a mint 1987 ATVSports Magazine, with the test of the 87 LT250r and 87 trailboss 250RE/S, the first 2 quads I ever rode... brings back great memories. The mag even made a bold statement that the 87 LT250r was the best in those years... this was back when Denton was racing Suzuki.

Again, the nicest collection of vintage ATV's I've ever seen! I had a chance to go to the Kawasaki Museum in Kobe, Japan 2 years ago, but got busy with work when I was there and didn't make it. I heard they have some amazing vintage stuff there. Things that never made it to production... etc...

Keep the pics coming.

Thought you all might like to see the rarest 250r ever, the 1987 ATC250r, supposedly a few made it to Canada. Never seen one, just this brochure. Notice the language is in French => Quebec...

when i rode at a local mx track a few years back a guy i got to know raced an lt 250r he bought from Korry Ellis it had a ct motor, leager chassis the front and rear shocks were either kx or cr 500 dirt bike it had lots of chrome and polished parts was amazing to look at and it would fly. He practiced with Shane Hitt, Justin
Gandy, and several other pros that came to pyramid to race and practice. his first year he became a very good rider but ended up breaking his back on a back table top jump when he over shot it. lost touch after that.

The 1st 250R = my favorite 250R. :D

But of course, one stop over at our website would tell that tale wouldn't it?

Even the Easter Bunny loves old 250R's!

Holy sheep $h!+ ........ Heck of a deal.
Do you work at a used car lot? Hmmm.....lol

You're one fortunate son of a gun to have 2 sets of NOS '88 skins!
That's about $1500 worth of well bought plastic spun into over $5K to the rite buyer.
Sadly you'd need at least another 30K to make me break even. (I'm a little off, but got to keep ya all guess'n. lol )

THANKS FOR THE OFFER! (LOL)
(Wish I could buy that plastic, though. UG!)

K10, your the other guy in the other thread on atvconnection I was talking about. Did I see that right you were restoring a 200x? Hows that coming along. I think the 200x my brother had may have been an 87 because we had to do a lot of research looking for parts for it. He sold it for $500 with a blown motor after one of our friends rode it :(

One thing is for sure, that atc ended up in good hands by the looks of things. it don't mater what he gave for it as long as he is happy with what he gave.

that is very true. Id love to get 2 of each year model atc and trx, both in crates (i know it is probably purely impossible) and have one fully assembled and one in the crate. I wouldnt ride them, just have them, but then again i dont have that kind of money to throw around even if they do have them like that lol

That's probably me, not sure?? I unfortunately sold off both my '87 ATC 200Xs to fund the fleet of R restorations.:ermm:
The 200X trikes are sadly missed. I'd love to take one trail riding here with my son. They are a real nice spunky ride!

That was the same pics I saw so im sure it was you. I love the 200x's A lot of people said they were slow but any trike with a clutch is fun to me. i always wanted to ride a 350x. I heard they have some serious torque

I didn't think you would bite. Nice collection you've got there. It sure is a good feeling when a restoration is finished. The bummer is building it is as much fun as showing it off. Once it's done you have to find something else.

sure wish I could have kept all of my atv's,atc's, dirt bikes, lifted trucks. sold some because i had to, some to move on to other projects, but i enjoy riding and wrenching on the ones i have now, hopefully i won't have to sell them and i can add more to my collection later. maybe someday we can all have that dream collection. k10seibel and all the other restorers and collectors give us all something to look forward to. some younger people are not sure what the older atv's and atc's even looked like or the history behind them and it helps others remember back when.

You have to love those old bikes. I have a 200x that i would sell. If anyone is interested. i would never of posted it but all this talk made me think about it. The engine is a full sparks built. My dad used to be Midwest champ ice racer back in 84-85. It could use a resto but its all there

It really depends what "excellent condition" means. Best to post a few detailed pictures if you are looking for a better opinion on your trike. Bone stock with few or no aftermarket parts will bring the best money. Good OEM plastic, original correct rubber, complete tool box with tool kit, and factory hardware helps. Basically an all original untouched (un-wrenched) bike is what collectors are after. Moded and aftermarket basket cases are a dime a dozen, even in "exellent condition".
What parts are missing and/ or have been swapped out for aftermarket stuff??
Obviously some folks like a good performance minded build and will pay good coin for a well built power house trike. Though the money spent in high end performance parts is usually lost at resale time, unfortunately.
Just my .02 cents.

I agree, you won't go wrong with that one. Either to ride, restore, or just look at (lol). Looks like a good bike at $3700 to me. If everything is as good as he says, I'd buy it if I was looking. Good luck!

you are all going $hit!! i offered that guy 3k about 3 weeks ago for that 89, and he said he already sold it because he need cash and he let it go for 1800 cash!!!! i told him i wish you would have never even told me that!! but talk about giving it away going from 4500 to 1800 in the first week.. he should have started at 3k and it would have been gone, but anyways someone got a deal.

Funny you should ask about the 200R. I'm finally just getting started today. I'll be mocking up the basic roller this afternoon. The motor still needs repaint and other touches. I'll be taking a bunch of photos. I'm mainly a weekend warrior. Was going riding today, but that fell through. I've got 2 kids and one on the way, so progress is veeeeery slow. :(

Yes, I'm the owner and do all my own work including the powder coating. I'm a "weekend warrior" and do this stuff on the side. I'm a full time truck driver for UPS weekdays. Give me a call if I can be of any help! (608)235-1103
