Just got an 07 crf450r, and don't know what I should run for oil. Obviously I'm doing synthetic, and don't know what I should buy. I'm going amsoil so what weight? Thanks

You can use either a 10W-30 or 10W-40 engine oil. I would recommend you go by what the preferred grade is in your owners manual.

10W-30 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?GroupID=742&zo=34396)

10W-40 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?GroupID=168&zo=34396) <---- When I doubt, use this grade

Shown on page 7 in the Online AMSOIL Catalog (http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g100/g100.aspx?zo=34396)

not 10w30 its to thin run 10w40 or 20w50

Rotella t diesel oil works great and is cheap.

Like 30% of crf owners run it.

Its 15w40 perfect weight you can also run it in the trans side as well. I recomend a 20w50 or thicker for trans side.

I run rotella in engine
80w bell gear saver in trans.

Change engine oil every 4-6 hours filter every other oil change
Change trans every 8-10 hours depending on how hard you are on clutch and what not.

amsoil is the ****. i have always run amsoil. i have a 1998 honda 300ex that has had amsoil in it since new and i have never had to touch it. still has the original piston, rings, cam and clutch. i took it apart for the first time last year to make sure it was 100% cause my son was going to start riding it and it looked band new.
