Anyone have a rack on the back of their quad for extended trail rides? I'm goin up to the mountains for the whole summer and I am in need of someway to carry a gas can and maybe a few other items with me up the side of the mountains. Also what kind of jet would y'all recommend for high altitudes?

Thanks
Tobe

check out some pics of rons(tri5ron) he has a rack on his that is very nice. I think that you can get them from dennis kirk also but they are not the same kind as the one that ron has. here is a pic of it.

I would suggest checking out the owners manual i think they suggest a high altitude jet. I would say off hand that it is a 146 but i am not exactly sure. steve

Perfect! Thank you very much. The only rack that I had been able to find up until now was one off of rocky mountain and I didn't really like it that much.

I made my own aux fuel bottle/holder from an old crossbar mount type water/fuel bottle, for a "just in case".
We have ridden a full 80 miles of mountain trails/fireroads (tracked mileage on GPS), WITHOUT having to use the Aux fuel, BUT We DID all switch to reserve at about 70ish miles.
Yours being a 440 with a cam probably wont get that kind of mileage on 1 full stock fuel tank.

very nice! i like that idea of having room for both with a little bigger tank. I have racks with gas and oil but not for a 6 pack. I guess i havent really looked at the armadillo ones. lol. thanks for posting. steve

Ron you can't forget to post up the tool kit either. I just loved how the one Chachi said your bike was all "nerded out." Your tool kit idea has saved my butt a few times and I'm so glad you found the hiding spot.

LOL!,
AHhhh, Fraternal Brother Guenther, of "The Club"!
how are you ??

Yeah, I got a kick out of the guy who said that about my quad too. LOL!

He'll be the one who is broke down 20 miles from camp and asking "Hey Pal,... do you got something that will save my arse???"

My responce will be, "Sure, but your gonna need to supply all of the beer, to all of the "Brotherhood", around the campfire tonight!" LOL!

You better read through the thread that Brother Guenther posted.

there ARE Rules and Requirements to riding with the Tri5ron-save a Day- Toolkit.

There are ALSO some Penalties, for being caught out on the trail with one, if you have not pledged your soul, to the Brotherhood, of "The Club", and are voted to be, an accepted member, in good standing...

There are great responsibilities at stake here, and we take the Fraternal Brotherhood of The Club, very seriously.

or,.....

you just may have to start learning how to ride.... NEKKED!

Ron that setup that you have is awesome! That is exactly what I need for my summer fly fishing trips in the mountains. Also, how far can y'all go on one tank of fuel?

I've done a honest 80 miles on a full tank of gas, (Stock OEM fuel tank), (measured the miles on a handheld GPS ), riding plenty hard and fast with 3 other guys, on mountain trails and fireroads.
most of the day was spent in 2nd 3rd and 4th gear.

We all had to switch to reserve at around 70ish miles.
10 miles later, as we arrived back to camp,...
we were ALL on fumes.
I doubt if we could have gone another 5 miles.
