it could be something else and not the trans. before you tear the engine apart, check oil filter for shaving, remove clutch pack raise rear end up and spin inner clutch hub. also shift threw the gears while doing that and see if tran shifts and spins smooth

I've seen the outer clutch baskets also brake the rivits and cause a knocking noise

i pulled my clutch out and it looked dry, yes i put 400ml in it so i dumped an extra 150ml in it and the thing smoothed right out... i hope thats not to much book says 400

i used to overfill it even more than 150ml, i think i added around 200-250ml. There was a big topic about this on ltrhq and it seems the trans whines quite a bit but, usually goes away by adding more fluid.

Putting more oil in your tranny is BS. The tranny and top tank runs together and not seperate systems. You have 3 oil pumps in your engine. The oil is continuelly pumped from engine to tank. The scavange pump, pumps the oil from the tranny to the tank and the pressure pump from the tank to the engine. When the quad is standing the oil slowly drains fom the tank to the engine,as soon as you start it up and stop the engine, you check the oil. The 400ml decals on the filler side of the engine,is just for initial fill.

I was just posting the amounts I fill when drained. Not that the trans holds more oil.
if you only put 400 in tran and recomended in tank. the level will be low

Im not a big fan of cut trans, I have both of Cale downens race bikes from ATP in my shop and have replaced both of those trans to stock.
I also have dynoed both bikes too.
