Just removed harness and rewired bike. Took starter out, and got a concern:

Anyone know if I have to remove the starter flywheel located behind the CVT?

This thing looks like it is kept from achieving crank RPM by the starter gear and starter reduction gear located in the CVT case. If I remove all the starter stuff will the flywheel go ballistic and vibrate (or worse)? This thing does not appear to be balanced or designed to tolerate the RPM demanded from the crank..

If the flywheel needs to be removed, is there a spacer, shim or anything that needs to fill the void?

Scratching my head, ... no lice..:scary:

THANKS!!!!

It needs to be removed. I believe the spacer you need is about 3mm.

confirmed, what ride4rob said. remove starter wheel, insert 3mm shim, reduce spinning mass...enjoy.

What did you guys use for a shim? DRXracing, did you grind it to the size of the CVT, or will it be obvious when I get it off? Thanks everyone for the response!

if you have an extra kick start piece that connects to the crank turn it around and this is all you need. Heres a pic.

Wow, that got rid of a lot of rotating weight! DRX, don't know where the pics went, but I took the advise once I got it apart. I spent about 30 min on the grinder and got the hub assembly apart and ground the original splined disc down to the diameter of the stepped portion:devil: Thanks, works great! Have not got the kid on it yet, but was wondering if you adjusted the roller weights while you were there?
