I currently have a 450r carb, uni filter and airbox lid mod (cut it out and put a k&n outerwears over the hole) and a big gun ignition module on my 400... Im gonna order a exhaust and maybe a cam today, but was looking on some input before I order it.

i have the same set up, but a full big gun exhust system, it pulls pretty hard. so i would say your on the right track.

A cam makes all the difference in the world in these machines. It doesn't matter what kind, they are all better than stock:p The Hotcam Stg2 is a mid to top-end cam. I imagine it would be good for MX, but it didn't have the bottom end hit I was looking for in XC.

Does it actually increase low end or is it only noticeable mid-top with the stage 1?

Yes, I run the Stg1 now. It has noticeably more bottom-end, compared to the Stg2. It doesn't fall flat on its face on the top end though. Its topend is better than stock, just not as prominent as the Stg2.

I'm telling you all wrong...sorry.:o I was thinking this was in the 450 section for some reason. But the results may be about the same in a 400ex:o

i have a stock piston with a stg 2 and it's lots funner to ride now,the only thing else i have done is an exhaust and filter. When i get the extra money i'll do more but i'm still pretty happy for now.
