How bad of an idea is it to flip my front wheels around (3-2 offset) so it makes it 2 inches wider up front? I am a mechanical engineer, so I understand the extra forces/moment, but I would like some real-life input on who has done this. Also, since the valve stems interfere with the caliper, is there shorter valve stems available, or do I have to plug the holes and install valve stems on the outside? Thanks.

Terrible bump steer. It puts the tires too far outside of the ball joints. Maybe if you just drag race or dune it might be ok. I did it for a weekend of trailridding and a little sand dragging, and hated it.

Ok now I feel like a real dumb @$$...thanks for the replies. Might just be running my stock axle until I can afford a wider front end.

I did that and noticed that the quad like to get sideways when leaving jumps. AKA bump steer. I didnt like it at all.

I did this when I first started racing way back. I wouldn't really recommend it although it can be done. I just delt with the bump steer....young,poor and didn't know any better. What I did was take a valve stem and pulled it thru backwards. Then I drilled a new hole for the other side. I believe this was on a old stock Yamaha Warrior wheel.
