for anybody that has ran one of these.......http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GT-Thunder-Honda-450R-rear-skid-plate-450-R-rotor-guard_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem563b109075QQitemZ 370358128757QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories .....can you guys tell me if they are worth the 50$, or should I get a metal/aluminum rotor guard? Im actually gonna be custom fitting this rotor guard on a "half skid plate" on my 400ex. already have a LSR single sprocket guard, and I made me a skid plate that just bolts up to the swingarm. I'll post some pics of what I got so far so you guys and get a better idea of what im trying to do. I still got the stock 400ex rear brakes (planning on upgrading to 450r brake later on), and as you know the 400ex rotor is alot bigger than the 450r's rotor. so my idea was to get the plastic rotor guard and bolt it onto the flat skidplate I made. any thoughts on how good this should work?

Mine has lasted me over 3 years. They are well worth the money. They are designed so that the rotor cuts into them about a 1/4", but will cut all the way through if you don't keep it shimmed. As long as you use shims, it will last a very long time.

thanks, thats exactly what I needed to know. I usually dont hit stuff at high speeds any way cause I usually try to pick my lines pretty carefully when I ride in deep ruts.

You will need the 450R rear brakes right away. You won't gain anything having the 400 rotor on there, as the skid will be much lower than designed for.

yea I know. I went ahead and bought the gtt rotor guard, guess I'll just hold off on installing it till I get my 450r brake. Ive done some searching/shopping on ebay and it will cost me anywhere from $90 to $150 for everything, caliper, disc/hub, and bracket. just depends on what kind of deals I can find.

well I didnt really get what I wanted. they sent me their steel 450r skid plate instead of the plastic rotor guard like I wanted, but guess I'll just make do with this. heres some pics of my setup.
