honda 300ex bogging out

my 1996 honda 300ex started boggin out recently. first gear starts missing at about half throttle, second gear is very bad, and 3rd, 4th, and 5th all start missing and bucking way before they give the motor a chance to wind out. this 300ex used to really scoot , but now it is a snail. it runs ok as long as i dont get into the throttle to much, or as long as i shift early. i dont know if this is a tune up issue or a problem with the trans since it seems worst in 2nd and 3rd gear. any ideas?

well i cleaned up everything and put in a new spark plug, but it still bogs. there are 2 hoses that come off of carb that look like vacuum lines. they are not hooked up to anything. should they be connected together?

They are just vent hoses. The one on the bottom of the carb is to drain the bowl and the other one just dangles wherever u wanna put it.

Replace your clutch. It sounds like your clutch is slipping. Does not sound like a carb issue.

well this may sound weird but i fixed my atv boggin out by sinking it in a mud hole. it was running bad and i must have sucked in some water that cleaned out carb. now it is running great. i guess sometimes you just got to beat the crap out of them.
