Just wondering how competitive at the beginner level a fresh (motor/suspension) 250r would be against the modern 450s. Do any of you guys race these things anymore.

Me too. Very competitive, provided you know how to ride a 2 stroke.

I race also, they are quicker than the 450's off the line of you have it ported or big bored. You HAVE to know how to ride a 2-stroke though otherwise you will get your *** handed to you. There fun to jump and they corner as if on rails! Good luck!

sounds good. I recently purchased an old 86 in need of motor work. I ride bikes mostly but back in the late 90's early 2000's I ran quads. I've always wanted to get another R to restore/play around on.
