So I just picked up a used Outlaw. It is an 06 with a full Bill Balance HMF exhaust, ITP holeshot rear tires, Stage 2 Hotcams, and a dynojet kit. I traded my non-running blaster that was complete, but needed the wiring harness hooked up, needs a headpipe, and a few other minor things plus $250 cash for it. Too good tobe true right? Well the outlaw has a bad crank, and has no front tires. I've got a project ahead of me now, but I still think it is worth it. I miss my predator, so I think I will love this once it is complete. I'll keep everyone posted on the re-build.

Here is how it sits as of today. Got the tires on and got rid of some of the stickers.

Looks good. How do you know it has a bad crank? What is it doing? I haven't heard of many cranks going bad on the 500 engines.

If you need funds, I'll give you my 07 stock RydeFX shocks and some cash for those fox ones :D

Haha. I wish I could do that, but I love the shocks it has on it. As far as the crank goes I tore the quad down on thursday night and it is official, the bearings for the rod went. The guy I bought it from said the whole crank was bad, but it is just thoes bearings. It is at a machine shop right now being pressed apart and he is going to tell me if the pin and rod are still ok to use. Way cheaper than the $715 crank that I woulda had to buy. I'll keep everyone posted on how it goes.

So the rod and pin are bad too. I'm looking at a $200 bill to get new ones, plus the $100 for the machinist to press it together and balance it. yikes. Here are some new pics:

Haha. I wish. I don't have the time or money to do a build like that. All together the motor is going to cost me $350 to fix. $100 for the machinist to press the crank apart and together, $200 for the rod, bearing, and pin, and then about $50 for gaskets. Then I just have to change all the oil, coolant, and fluids and then it will be set. I'm taking the money from selling blaster parts to pay for the rebuild. If anyone needs blaster parts hit me up!! :D

So I got the outlaw started yesterday. I was up until 4am putting the motor together, and then got a couple hours of sleep and went back at it. I got it to start, but it idled wicked high and would stumble if the throttle was applied. I then went today and took the carb apart and cleaned it. I also tried to fix the choke because it won't pull out, but that was useless, and still doesn't work. I then started the quad again and it would idle a little and then die. I tried messing with the idle screw which helped some, but it still wouldn't stay at a steady idle. I tried starting it one more time and with a loud pop-bang it didn't start. Now the starter just spins freely and doesn't engage. Anyone else have similar problems or know what's wrong with my quad?

P.S. I jetted to a 155 dynojet and I was out about 2.5-3 turns on the idle screw. Does that sound pretty close? Thanks.

check the inline throttle adjustment by the throttle assembly.

Did you get the starter issues figured out?Link (http://www.polarisriders.com)

Hey Jeff, I didn't get it figured out quite yet. It looks like the nut that holds the flywheel on backed off and allowed the flywheel to rock and break the key in there. I am getting a new key this week and then I am going to replace the nut with a lock nut and use red loctite and re-torque it to 125lbs. When the key broke I think it caused the intake valves to open at the wrong time which caused the loud bang and the exhaust to come out the carb. I hope everything goes ok from here on out.
