motor:
stage 1 cam i believe
lighter piston
full hmf pipe with quiet core
rejetted
diff crank but stock length its a hot rod

tires: probally be running 20" but might throw on some 22" so both gearing combo would be nice

thats all i believe

if your useing 20" the stock gearing is hard to beat with the 22" you could go to 13 up front that way you can just adjust chain without even have to change the lenght of your chain unless you have a high comp. piston then add 1 tooth in front for 20 to 15 and 14 for 22 ---this is on a +06 right I didnt check you year

I like 38 that way still good groung clearance and I have 3 sprockets for diff tracks 13 14 15 but I have a high comp piston, with that mode I had to add one tooth to the front to get a little longer out of my gears so you might not need the 15. with this setup up I can change the gearing of my quad in about 5 minetes withouy braking my chain or even realy taking it off just the front sproket

I run 20's and 21's with hmf and crf cam and I went down one tooth on an 05 to a 13 and its great keeps you out of first gear so much. it also depends your ability if you ride balls to the walls all the time no matter where you are I don't think it will really matter. I'd stick with 38 in the rear thou.

thank you I might get the 13 for front then and stock rear? But my bike before it had a massive blow up had a HC piston and i can tell a little torque diffrence not much but now it revs up alot faster

The stock gearing on a 04\05 gearing is too high for XC, in my opinion. A 13t front and stock rear is just about perfect. You will gain a little clearance by rotating the carrier 180 degrees, but it's probably not enough to worry about it.

Ok thank you mayby the 13 is where it's at. Also, does anyone know gearing for about a 1/4 mile dirt oval with 18" rear thanks

I have a 04 as well. I did the same thing. Went down to a 13 on the front. Works great for XC riding. You don't get the wanting to stall. You can really lug it in a tight section now. And when you do hit the throttle, it gets up on the power quicker. I can run 4th gear where I had to run 3rd before. Beforehand, 4th would lug to hard in the deep whoops on the trails or a tighter corner. Now, it will lug around the corner and rev out easier.
