Anyone have a sketch to mod the shift star? When it's running, my banshee is nearly impossible to get into neutral. Everything else is fine, shifts OK into other gears up/down no problems just nearly impossible to hit that neutral notch on the shift star. If anyone has had success with a purchased mod, I'd be happy to hear about it.

Hey Rayman,

Looks pretty good, but does it really improve the ability to find neutral?
Only reason I'm so skeptical is that I've recently been told there's not much can be done about this problem. So I just shut it off and kick it when I'm ready to get movin'. Don't mind spending the $20 but I want it to work for neutral not just rip through 1-6.

Thanks
George

Hey George, hows the banshee been working out for you guys? You finally get it all tuned in and running perfect?

To improve shifting the most, you need both the shift star AND an aftermarket shift drum. Supposedly these two things make it shift as easy as newer quads.

But the start by itself is still supposed to make a big difference.

I feel your pain, I can barely find neutral if its running also. I just pull in the clutch or shut it off. lol.

Yup, all works very well here guys.
Very simple to do and install also. I figured out another lil trick also with the eccentric screw and the shift shaft spring too. All works really well.

Glad i could help Guys! http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/savage_420/Smileys/Monster.gif

Everything work out for you other guys too?

Hey All,
I just found this "best kept secret" that's only a few miles from me - Performance ATV in New Windsor, NY. After talking to Jody for a few minutes and the shifting issues we're complaining about, he suggested I make sure to get rid of freeplay in the clutch lever (not like the free play in the throttle), put new tranny fluid in it (wasn't old but I'd just rebuilt the engine bottom to top and put a few hours on it). It's not "butter" but better and I can usually find neutral. Just the cable adjustment and fresh fluid made a HUGE difference. He also suggested I take a hard look at the clutch adjustment before putting a modded shift star into the bike. If I get time to take the clutch cover off this Saturday, I'll let you know how it works out. I'll also take some pics so I can explain it if does work.

Hey Savage, thanks for the input. Can you share that "other little trick" you're referring to with the eccentric screw and shaft spring?
