2005 trx 450r burnt cam??????

I bought a 05 450r, and the told me it didnt run and he had no idea what was wrong with it. Come to find out the cam looks like it was ran with no oil in the bike. I pulled the head and piston and it all looks good. The crank feels good also. I can t figure out what would make the cam burn up and everythng else look good? Would running it low on oil do this? Could i just put a cam in it and go? Thanks for all your help

make sure that the oil pump is working properly. check your oil passages, make sure they are free flowing. sounds like the oil was not getting to the top.

is there a way to check the oil passages and the pump with out tearing the whole engine down?

Any pics of the burnt cam?
Its an 05....Front R/H side of engine remove the line going up to the cooler.
Kick engine over and see if oil is pumped out of the engine.
That will tell if the pump is pumpin.....
