2 different carbs in 08

I just bought a 08 carb for my 06 and the needle jets are different so I looked at a fiche and saw that there are two different carbs in 08 how do I know which one I have so I can get the right jet kit and deos any body know what the pilot jet size is in the 08 and if its any differance in the two as far as response

the 2 carbs are for the ER and the R, the R has a hotstart where the ER does not. the carbs themselves are the same!

the needle valves are different is that the only difference between the 06 and 08

also the er has two listings not r but 3A and A not with hot start but the carbs do have different needle valves Im trying to change the 08 carb to go on my 06 and want to jet it and I would rather use the jet that I have if they will work if the throttle bodys are the same I will just swap them out so I can use my old needle but Im not sure about all the specs and if it will work

It looks like the 08 uses two diferent carbs 16100-hp1-a01and 16100-hp1-a02 the a02 is actually an 09 carb and there are some things different but I am not sure of all the diferences if anybody knows if the throttle body and needle wiil work in the 09 from the 16100-hp1-a01 or 06-08 years please let me know

IIRC the needle and how it clips into the top of the carb is totally different on the 07+ bikes compared to the 06's.

So both 08 needles (if there are too diff ones) are probably different then the 06's.

the needles are different for 06 vs 07 and up. the 06er and 06r have the same needles. the 07 and up er and r has the same needles.

Ya I just found out from my parts guy that the carbs went through several changes all the carbs will work on any year but many off the componets are different most of the actual body of the carb are the same but the throttle body is different but the way it looks if I take the throttle body from my 06 I can use that in the 08 that way I can have the adjustable needle (I couldnt find a adjustable needle for the 08) all of the kits that we looked at are for the 06 style (moose and dynojet)If anybody knows who make the adjustable needle for the 08 09 carbs please let me know
