Stock 250r shock vs 400ex shock

I want to upgrade my stock 87 250r shocks to something cheap but better . Will a 400ex rear shock fit ? Is it better than the stock rear? Also same question for the front

The 86 Trx250r I just bought has Yfz450 front shocks on it. Supposed to be a good suspension upgrade for the front. Not sure about the rear.

400 ex shocks suck bad.. dont run them...

I put 400EX front shocks on my '89 R for about 5 minutes. Ride height is extremely high and really stiff. They suck for sure. Bite the bullet and go for a nice set of aftermarkets.

Yeah i did the same and took them right off too. The rear shock wont work either. Has to have a ressie.
