I'm having a yosh 449 kit put in my z and I was wondering which carb would work best with it.

get a 450r intake boot between carb and head, yfz450 carb, 400ex boot between carb and air box. do a search on this there's alot of info on this set-up. i havent got to ride mine yet, but i have it running. going to brake in motor this friday.

Would this carb work or would it be overkill? Its becoming very hard to find FCR's for sell.

thats a little high, if you search on e-bay you will find them. i got mine for $125 shipped. when searching try different ways to search [ yfz450 carb, yfz 450 carb, fcr carb, fcr, yfz carb] that should help. now when you find a couple of carb wait until the last 15-12 seconds of the auction (be sure your logged in first) and through your bid in. keep in mind if the bid is at $81.00 and your willing to spend up to lets say $150. put your bid in at $150 you won't be getting it at that price unless someone bids up to that and they out bid you. so if you put that price in i bet you get it for $100-$135. i also don't really know if you need anything over a 39mm carb. just like on cars people think a bigger carb is always better but that can be wrong. do alot of seaching on here. good luck let us know what you do.

this carb can be bored up to 42 for about $125 it can be bored bigger that but is much more money and really to big for the Z.

my self i had one bored to 42 and i like it rather well .

as a 39 it has proven its self as being the carb to have on the ltz

Oh i dont fault you one little bit ,a fcr carb taken off a YFZ worked on a YFZ it will work on a LTZ just as it is . this FCR carb has all the tricks done to it , the NOSS adapter alone is $70 and it
does not just slip on. no the bore to bore does not match up so theres some grinding with a die grinder and some honing to work out the high spots .
when the TPS is removed then there is the need for a way to adjust the idle so the idle adjuster it taken from a ltz's carb a hole is drilled and taped in the fcr , the trick about that is finding the right tap , places that have that tap on hand are few and far between ,even getting the carb apart so that the hole can easly be drilled and taped can make ya say how am i going to get that one screw out ?? , most guys with tools dont have long reach tamper prof T20 in there box , i did not but i do now.
the spring mod can be done 2 different ways get off ebay for a little more than $20 or drill a small hole for the spring to set in to.

the ex boot does work but the 450r boot works even better ,however to use it you need the adaptor
