went riding yesterday with lots of buddies. had 1 250ex, 1 650 kawasaki, 1 330 polaris, and 7 400ex's. It was an amazing time and rode for 9 hours. got plenty muddy, but was an awesome day out.

But anyway the quad ran great, but have several questions.
When i was running it woud pull up next to my buddies and stop for a few minutes, i would shut my quad off. about 5-10 seconds after i shut it off there would be a pop or more of a puff come out of the exhaust. Just curious as to what this is. Something wrong?

Also as the day went on my quad got harder and harder to start. Seemed i had to push the button longer and harder to get it to start. well by the end of the day i could barly get it to start and when we got back home it wouldn't start at all. Do i need a whole new button and switch for this?

Thanks again!

I think the pop is excess fuel trying to be burned when shut down.

I am thinkin he is rich also.

When you say the button would not start the atv you mean it did nothing, noise, click, turn over??

it would do absolutely nothing at all. i knew i always had to push fairly hard to get it to go, but now it does nothing.

Did you try jumping it yet? If it works jumped the batterys shot.

it's definatly not the battery. could always tell i would have to push pretty hard or it would be delayd to be able to start. and as the day went on i would have to push harder and hold it longer. and eventually with no start

Can you borrow a starter button from one of your riding buddies 400 to troubleshoot to see if it actually is the button?

I have the same issue with the ole starter button. I wiggle mine around until it hits that spot and starts to turn over then just hold it there until it fires up. Been like that since I bought it 3 years ago...

Check ebay for other models that share the same switch housing, Rancher, 250EX, etc.

Don't know but you could do a part search on Service Honda to see if they have the same part #'s or connections. The internet is your friend.
