I recently bought a 2003 400ex and am unsure on why the guy I bougth it off put 22 inch ties on the back instead of the stock size of 20.

I like the 22 inch tires, they are holeshots in good shape and provide a bit extra ground clearance.

Does anyone know what size front and rear sprockets I should run with the 22 inch ties to get the best power through out. I don't want all low end power and I don't want all top end power... anything in the middle would be great??

Thanks guys!

I believe the stock size is 15/38, I personally think that the 14/38 set up might be better with the 22 inch tires, any experience with this...

I do mostly trail riding and some road, so I don't want to loose all my top speed but I don't want the gears to be wicked short either.

id go with a 14 in the front and put the stock 39 on the back that gives you mid way power. i have the 15-39 and it gives more speed but is a little harder to pull out, not too bad though. no sacrifice in power at all though, it actually has more bottom end now along with some more top end. i have the stock size rears though so for you id go with the 14/39 setup. hope this helps

14/39 for 22" tires works well.
