The carbs were gummed up and cleaned them out. I can get the motor running but not to idle. I messed with the fuel air screw and just not change the sound. I cant lean it out and the float is seated. Im a marine mechanic and never had this prob on outboards. It like i have to keep the throttle plate open a quarter of the way. The idle screw is maxed out. Its all stock. it like she only wants to run with throttle open. Cant not even get it to lean idle cough. Im going to get a new Needle but, im sure it is seated. Anybody have any Ideas? I feel like and idiot cause im a mechanic and I dont know what i am missing. Is there a timing advance.

the pilot seems to be clogged.

is any fuel coming out of the overflows?

double check float height.

the pilot is clean and no fuel coming from overflow, with box off it spits some fuel. All i think i can do is wait for the new needle. If that does not work then. I will be lost. LOL

did you check your spark plug?

did you check spark?

your floats could still be stuck closed.

what does it do with the choke on?

It has spark, I get it running, but just not idle, put new plug in, the color is black on plug so its rich, choke on just floods it.

its definitly the pilot then. open the throttle and hit the atrt and see if it will try and idle after the bug fuel charge.

i believe that should be start, but bug is an interesting word to have in that sentence too. i would def clean the carb again mainly the pilot and see how it is then. Suggestions to cleaning would include soaking in gas while cleaning with a small brass brush and a regular bristle brush, then take it out of the gas and blow some carb cleaner through all of the pilot orifices again then go the other way by spraying cleaner in the opposite side. Sometimes stuff comes loose, then gets sucked back in again and clogs it up right away lol. steve

on my 250r i had a clogged pilot and it would not start. so, i got frustrated and opened the throttle up all the way and kicked the hell out of her and she finally started. i revved the **** out of it then rode around for a bit. recleaned the carb and it actually worked.lol
