Ok so not to long ago i decided i was gona by another 400ex with the money i got from selling my cr500

So i figured why dont i find a decend blown up 400 and start from scratch, i found a blown 400 locally for 500$
the guy told me it only needed a piston and rings because the person he bought it from put the piston in backwards and smacked it off the valves (so i figured it needed valves)

well i figured i would just post some pics of b4 and where i am now

As of now it will be an 11:1 wesico 426
Kibble white valves
Will add more goodies later on such as cam and 450r carb

So heres a pic of when i first got it (not that grat becasue it was dark outside)

just a suggestion. you should powdercoat the side cover and such while its apart. its not very expensive and well worth it IMO.

Your moving along pretty fast. You resleeve your cylinder and eliminate the base gasket? You probably already know but you need atleast an oversize oil tank and scoops. Goodluck with the build:)

ya im working on the oversize oil tank or at least a good set of air scoops and the quad tech race hood should help with airflow also
As for poweder coating i was really thinkin about it becasue i know a couple ppl that powder coat parts in small batches i could get it done real cheap but at the moment im kinda starped for cash so i juz wanta finish it and make it nicer later on

Here is one of the latest pics, got the carb and airbox on but juz sat the tank on to c what its gona look like

well when i bought it the guy handed me the head and cylinder and everything in a box
Then he handed me a big coffee can filled with bolts and theres no way they were all off the quad

Well guys work stops for now because i wont b home this weekend to finish it

That is somewhat easy to install

How about a rev box!

That would be for extreme top end only.

ya well ive herd some negative things about rev boxs
and seeing as the 400 makes most power on the bottom end and thats where i want more power i dont think it would do me much good

All that I am saying is for under a hundred bucks it is a great mod, you can get up to 1200 more rpms out of them so when you are up 1200 rpms higher at the top end of one gear it gives you more to the bottom end going into the next gear. And no they wont blow your engine. The stock Honda rev limit is way in the safe zone.

it wont necessarily get you more low end power, but you can get smaller diameter tires like 18 inch.. or you could also change your gearing..

Just a thought

PaRedneckRiders
04-03-2010, 07:29 AM
well im getting 20-11-9 because i cant get them pretty cheap
and i will change the gearing its like a 14-15 now so ill prob drop to like a 13
