counterbalancer?

I know what a counterbalancer is if I see one, but can you guys tell me what the purpose of them is and why the dirtbikes dont have them. Thanks.

a counterbalancer is used to reduce vibration. I know a lot of the new big bore and some of the older engines have them. The craptor and griz have them.
