I always wanted one, but having worked on the FD and seen people laid down a few different bikes that were less powerfull and being stupid I decided I didnt want to be scraped off the road with a shovel.

Cool for you, be carefull!

I could live with that . Last time I got a quote on a 2005 R6, they wanted almost $2000 a year and I'm 27. Needless to say I saved over $7000 since I didn't buy the bike or have to get insurance. LOL

I think a lot of it has to do with who you ride with. A good buddy of mine rides alone or with another close buddy of his all the time ... he never rides in larger groups cuz that's when most peoples' super hero ego's kick in and they think they are invinsible.

You have to respect the machine .

As said ... be careful Jordan.

A lot of it really is out of control of the rider - and has to do with how other drivers react to you. A lot of times, driver simply don't notice a motorcycle.

While I would love to own a bike, my parents simply won't let me ride a street bike. To be honest with you, the last few months I've been able to understand why they say that after doing a lot of thinking.

Just today, I saw this on Jalopnik, a truck driver ran over 9 motorcycles stopped at a stoplight. I'm 90% sure that the article sad that they all died. The truck driver told a witness that he "was fumbling for some papers and didn't see them". Though this is indeed a rare circumstance, it could happen to any motorcylist out there.

I think that every guy I know in real life who rides bikes on the street has been in an accident were they almost died.

Sorry to be the party pooper here though haha.

Luckily just because my parents won't let me ride a street bike doesn't mean that they don't let me drive a fast car! muhaha.

Yea picking the pieces up after the idiots is never fun. I feel bad for them really cause most are seriously hurt.

Sucks when you gotta go out to MVA alot period and see all the bad stuff that happens. Been out to a few quad accidents too, but that was people who were trespassing and got hurt at this one place. Guy didnt like trespasser and dug ditches then covered with ply and covered them up..not nice.

Nice bike! I've learned from riding my R6 to always trust yourself but never trust other drivers.....Assume they are all idiots that are about to cut you off because 9 times out of 10...they are!

first thing you should buy is an undertail kit and get rid of that stupid looking licence plate bracket;)

I just got my first bike about a month and a half ago... CBR929RR

Let me tell you, that thing is insane! I've only had it to 129mph, but it felt faster (I think because of how fast you get there.)

In 2004 there were 4008 motorcycle fatalities.
About two-thirds (66%) of the fatally injured motorcycles riders in States without universal helmet laws in 2004 were not wearing helmets compared to 15 percent in States with universal helmet laws.

Since 2004: 2005: 4,576

2006: 4,837

2007: 5,154 During 2007, 50% of all fatal motorcycle crashes involved collisions with another type of motor vehicle in transport. Of these two-vehicle crashes, 78% of motorcycles involved were struck from the front (pay attention). Only 5% were struck from the rear.

In 25% of fatal motorcycle crashes, the motorcyclists crashed into a fixed object like a telephone pole or a concrete abutment.
Speeding was a factor in 36% of fatal motorcycle crashes during 2007.
-49% of bikers killed in crashes were age 40 or over.

- 31% of motorcycle crash fatalities occurred in the under 30-year-old group in 2007.

- 20% of crash fatalities occurred in the 30- to 39-year-old group in 2007.

- 27% percent of motorcycle riders involved in fatal accidents had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) over 0.08 percent.

Now 2008...
In 2008, 5,290 bikers were killed.
59% of the bikers killed in 2008 were not wearing helmets.
Of the motorcycle operators killed in 2008, 30% had a BAC of .08 or higher.
35% of all bikers involved in fatal crashes in 2008 were speeding.
In 2008, 2,554 (47%) of all motorcycles involved in fatal crashes collided with another type of moving vehicle.

346 young motorcycle riders (age 15-20) were killed in 2008! Of those 346... 35% were not wearing helmets.
