I have been thinking about trying the FMF Powerbomb Header with the FMF Q4 Silencer for exhaust on my 2003 Honda 400ex.

Both can be seen on the site: http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/typeDetail.do?&navType=type&navTitle=Exhaust&webTypeId=57&webCatId=18&allVehParts=true

Has anyone tried this conbination on their 400ex?

If so...

How were the power gains?

How did it sound?

Any pictures of what it looks like?

Thanks guys!

I'm interested in this too,I have the Powerbomb header and the FMF Megamax so hopefully it will be close to what you have

I have not purchased the exhaust yet, and am just looking for input of people who have purchased it and are currently or have run the set up or something close to it. I think the combination would produce good power and not be so loud you are going to make all your neighbors mad... But before spending five hundred bucks I would figure out what everyone on here thought. Thanks.

I had the header before but i didnt use that muffler. I had a big gun slip on and after a little while I wanted a aftermarket header also and the FMF allows you to use any or atleast most slip on mufflers with there head pipes. There was a noticable gain in the lower and mid range and added a deeper sound. Was it huge no. Was it worth the $170 or whatever I think it cost yea. Again I dont know about the muffler just the head pipe. Hope this helps.

I had the fmf powerbomb on my 02 warrior with a white brothers e2 and it made a difference. I might get it for my 400ex too. I have an fmf powercore slip on at the moment and stock header. The fmf is loud but i liked the e2 better.

josh25ex...

How load was the Q4 on your wheeler? Was it louder than stock? Did you notice a power gain from the Q4?

Thanks man.

You won't notice much of a difference, if any at all, with an aftermarket head pipe with a stock engine.

Well it will obviously have a jet kit and also a KnN filter with no air box lid and outerwear on the filter... good enough for now I guess... Plan on doing a bore and cams over next winter.

I had the powerbomb and the original fmf powercore 4. It made a noticable difference in the torque that it made compared to the stock exhaust.

I could pull the front end up in 5th at 25 MPH without even really trying. That is on a decently built engine.

416cc, 12.5:1 JE, XR400 cam, 450R carb, K&N filter, open airbox, ported head.

On a stock engine, just get a slip on.

Also, after about 10 hours on the exhaust, they sound great.

ish416...

what was done to your motor when you were running the powerbomb header and powercore 4?

Originally I just had the XR400 cam, K&N, open airbox, timing key and the FMF slip on. I was very satisfied with the power and the sound that it had.

Then it needed rebuilt so I did all the other things, the 416, 12.5:1 JE, 450 carb, ported head. Ran that for about 3 years and then last year bought the powerbomb.

So, to answer your question, everything was done.

There was a noticeable gain going from the stock header to the powerbomb with my mods.

The gains were noticeable across the entire rpm range. It just seemed to pull a bit harder than it did before, it was also a little bit quieter.

Here are a few pics of what the slip on looked like on my quad when it was new, back in 99.

Here is another focusing more on the pipe.
