So your saying the spring starts compressing at 1000 rpm?

no, that 1000 is the spring tension measurement of the spring, not the speed at which the clutch engages.
on a stock 70, I would not bother putting the stock spring back in, its junk. We never ran ours.
try something like this:
4.25 roller weights
stock variator
782 belt
1500 ZTR torque spring
That should be close and a better ride than stock. Also, on a stock ride, we are getting a lot of life our of our spring - 4-5 races or so which is good. stock will likely last 1-2 races.
