What kit???? 416 or 440

I am planning on up grading my engine in the near future, so what size would be the best for all around use and reliability. I ride the dunes alot as well as on dirt roads and off-road. I want enough power so that I can beat some raptors and banshees once in a while.

So what size engine would be the best for my application? and what should I expect to spend on it for everything except for the labor to put it back together, cause I can do that myself.

If I was going to go to a 440, I would get as much as possible by stroking the crank instead of going all bore. I like 416's because of the comments I 've heard from the people that have them and their good track record with reliability.

Check with your motor builder and see what he/she suggests.:)

I dont have a motor builder I will be doing all of it myself except for the machine work So any info I can get on here would be greatly appreciated

I've heard of problems with 440's with high compression blowing head gaskets often. Mabey a rider of one could shed light on this.:cool:

I have had no problems with my 440 yet. I think both the 416 and the 440 would be fun, I ran a few 416's and they were fast but not as fast as my 440.

I have the 440 but my wife loves her 416. She thinks its faster than my 440 ( she is probably right not to hard when you weigh a buck o five):D. Any go with the 416

do a 416 kit. more reliability, and good power.

If i were to go all out i would get the 440 because to get the full power of it you would need to port the head and get a new carb.

personaly i would get the 416 cause you can do fine with just jeting and stock valve size.
