Cat acting weird

Hi, Im brand new to the forums. I have a question about my Arctic Cat 500 4x4 auto (no mods :(). When I drive it hard, it starts puttering, and backfiring. It also smells hot. Could this be overheating, or water in the gas? Thanks, Dodge Man

could be overheating is it air or water cooled if water check ur coolent height , then check oil if its air check ur oil and see tht the cooling fins arnt full of mud and other debris
