Myself and my old 250R are making the trip to the first MX National race of the season. I don't expect too good of a finish the first time out, since I've only really had about 15 minutes of seat time since October. But, we will see.

Wonder if i'm going to be the only 2 stroke there?

I'm in the Boaz / Albertville / Guntersville area, what kind of places are there to ride near Huntsville?

Just wanted to say nice job at the races today! A 15th place finish might not sound like much but the nationals are no joke! Good luck tomorrow!

I've been talking with Derrick after each practice, and race. He Is pretty confident, but Isn't setting unrealistic goals. He's been tweeking his suspension to gain time everywhere he can. He got pilled up In a wreck after the holeshot. Barrel rolled the bike, but bounced back up to gain a couple position's. Today he say's It's rainy, so I'm confident he can make the 2 stroker work In the mud. He's running a small bore stroker motor for now, so he gets mixed up quite alot In the holeshot. After the next race or 2, he will move up to a powervalved 330. I can't wait till then, as he will be VERY competitive In the holeshot, along with more low end grunt to pull off the turn's. Derrick Is a smart rider, and has taught us both alot from suspension setup's to tuning the R motor for what he want's. Go get Em D, you are the man!!

Looks like he went 15-10 for 13th overall. Good job!

I made it back home this morning at 5am. I had a much better day on Sunday. I managed to come out of the holeshot around 8th place, which is pretty decent considering this is my little motor and there was some seriously built 450's there. I was a little sketchy after tumbling in the first moto so I lifted just a little into the first turn to make sure I got out clean. That Alabama clay is like ice once it gets packed tight!

Just in my class there were 2 of Joe Byrds 08 race bikes and 1 of John Natalies old Honda race bikes. Apparently the fad is to buy up the PRO race bikes and go run them in C class. :D

I'm sure that if I hadn't flipped in the first moto I would have been able to pull out a top 10 finish over-all.

I'll be trying it again in three weeks at Ballance, in KY.

Oh yeah, I saw one other 250R there. There was a young woman racing it in the womans class and she crashed on Saturday. She didn't come off hard but it knocked her out. Hope shes ok. REAL nice Roll Design 265PV bike.

There was also a LT250R there but it was shamed into pit bike status.

Good job on the R man! I was looking at the results and my buddy Travis Blair was racing out there with you, #96, White Plastic and Candy Green Framed 450R, he crashed on the 2nd moto and finished 10th overall. What a small world!

Good luck in Kentucky man! And do us a favor and bring a photographer. :p

Congrads on doing well at the national.

I hope to have my R ready for the Unadilla national. Either way I will probably be there, but hope to be racing the 30+ C with you.

Did you have to qualify for the 30+ C?

Years ago, when the nationals came to Southwick they had to run qualifiers as the first moto. My goal was to just qualify, and I did! Curious if there were enough riders for qualifying.

There were 19 riders in our class. Over 20 and you need to qualify. Last year the only 2 nationals that had more than 20 were RedBud and Loretta Lynns.
