Ok i heard something about a old and new generation of the esr trx 5 pipe? how do you tell if you have new or old? I also read somewhere that the newer one is suppose to have better low end? True? False?

Thanks Guys

the old one i own expansion chamber bading is in chrome finish or nickel plating new one my friend has and the badging is done with a background that is red and blue in color we both have identical motor and gearing the feel the same to both of us but hope this helps to at least identify them

The old and original trx 5 was a hand rolled cone pipe not a stamped version.

Not sure if you already own one or if you are considering buying one, either way, if you are considering buying one I would think twice, new style trx 5 pipe turned completely blue after less than one day of riding. FYI.

my ESR pipe is a new style. and it hasnt turned blue? You just have to know what to use to clean it i think.

derby and 250r morphidite are correct.

What type of cleaner do you suggest Honda 250r 001?

You will have to buff it to remove the discoloration. The newest or what may be considered the 3rd generation trx 5 just came out about a year and a half ago. If it does not turn blue or purple it is the older version. If your pipe does not have the black esr tag it is not the new one.

The only cleaner ive ever used on my pipe is this stuff for wheels. It works great. But i cant remember what its called. Otherwise its just good ol soap and water.

you have the container at home of the stuff you use 001? i've always used SOS pads on the ole pipes.

on a side note: i'd like to have all 3 generations of the trx5 pipes in hand to compare.

Yes, the stuff i use is at home. i will check and see what it is.

I have the newest generation i believe, because my pipe has never turned blue. The oldest generation ive seen on ebay. The ESR plate was not rivvited on i dont believe.

I've got the TRX-9 pipe and I just took it off a few weeks ago so I could give my 250R a good winter cleaning. My pipe was just as blue as a smurf. I've spent hours trying to get it off, and almost all of it has come off, but it has taken a lot of time using my buffing wheel on my drill.

I'm kinda disappointed in the finish, but its not really chrome, its nickel. So I try not to complain too much. I guess it performs so good I can over look the blueing.
