09 Apex 50 build

I would just like to share some pictures of my 1st mini quad build. After it was stripped to the bare frame, I almost got lazy and left it alone, but after some prodding from Seth, I had it painted. Glad I did, after I cleaned it up I discovered a crack in the frame where the rear swing arm bracket is welded. I would have felt terrible if something happened just because old Dad was too lazy. I also discovered that the axle bearings were getting kinda crunchy, so they got replaced, and I already posted pics of my steering stem fix. So here are some pics of my progress.

Oh today was a happy day for Seth, the cooler from Hetrick's arrived with his engine in it, he couldn't wait to get it in the frame.

Cant wait to see how the new 18x8x8 Quadcross tires hook up! Still only 41" wide with some creative wheel mounting.

All right, I know some of you are probably tired of seeing me post more pics of this, but it is now done!!:D After a week of tormenting the boy by letting him ride it for only a couple minutes each night to break in the engine, I let him go nuts and we went practicing yesterday. He ran it just about non-stop for 3 hours!!
I had to pull him off the track just to get him to drink some water and for me to just check things over. The quad was running awesome and those new Elkas and Soft Bars gave him the confidence to hit a couple of doubles he wouldn't try last season, I suppose that extra Hetrick oomph doesnt hurt either. He was proud of the blisters on his hands from riding.:blah: :blah:

Finally the last one.... I cant believe I started this on Feb 3rd, and I still am waiting on just a couple more parts to finish, I guess I will start on it at Christmas this year, maybe then I can get it done befor April..... Oh, well it looks good, runs strong and Seth looks awsome riding it, so off to the races we go, we hope to make Steel City, Pleasure Valley and of course our home race, Unadilla. Hope to see some of you there!!
