ok i just want some opinions on what some good 400 mods are
I do alot of trail riding and a lil on the track and drag track
juz want some input on what u think some good mods would b for trails/track
i have an idea of what i want do but lets c what you guys think would work out best
whatever you think is worth investing in to make a FAST yet somewhat reliable 400ex that is still somewhat trail worthy

cheapest way i got power where i wanted was playing with sprockets i wanted more bottom end but after a week i wanted more top end. just gotta swap sprockets its cheap and easy. after that i did filter and jet kit. pipe it maybe depending on budget. in my opin. after all the work i did building a 440 i would stick with a slip on filter and jet and do more to the suspension department sooner than more power. that being said i don't race anymore and i do more trails now

ya i do alot of trails but i still wanta hang with piped 450s on the drag track if possible
and as for suspension i was thinking of the stock Polaris predator 500 se fox shocks or mayb some 450r shocks

i got a 440 kit pipe stage 2 camshaft k n filter

i shoulda invested my money in shocks bc racing with the stock ones that r shot is not fun harder then a ***** to control it

ya i seriously dont like my stock shocks at all they soak up way to much andr way to soft
If u go into say a banked left turn the the right shock (closed to top of the burm) soaks everything up and wants to push me over the top of the burm

The way i see it if it takes a grand to be happy with a 400 might as well sell it and get a 450.

ok. I've got 2 450r's and a 400ex w/ 11:1 w/ HC Stage 1 and HMF slip on and it's no longer fun to ride compared to 450's let alone drag race. Hope you've got a deep wallet if you want to TRY to keep up with 450's.

i dont care about beating 450s its juz nice to say i can beat a 450 for what i do (mostly trail riding) speed doesnt all matter that much but i like to have speed and power and the 400 has nice pull in like lower rpms 1-3 and somewhat of 4th

450's are real nice ...but i wouldnt trade my 4 hundie for one, dont know what it is about it but i love it.....shocks will stick you to the ground better. looks like you already got some pretty good mods dude. Get the + 3 timing key and play around with a sprocket change to what style of riding you do

i like the HMF exhaust , but thats what i am around and my opinion. Shocks are a big plus, even just the 450r shocks help out a ton, anything beats the stock 400 shocks, but with the cost of elka and so on , my wife is not so crazy about the idea so i have to hide money in my "slush" fund what she dont know wont hurt her! as far as 100+ yes its wise to use, but what i do is buy 5 gallons of Sunnoco 112 and mix it 50/50 with 93...i add a fuel stabilizer to it and it lasts a few months worth of riding, and i ride ALOT!! Almost everyday if i can. and for 6 to 8 hours on sundays. I swear by that +3 key if you got a good cam and piston mod..it really picked it up and i noticed every bit of it.

Curtis sparks full exhaust exhaust is the way to go if you have the money. All you need to keep up with a 450 on trails is shocks, the big 3 and a bit lower gearing. I can hang with the bigger bikes easily on trails until there is any sort of straight away, then you have no chance.

ya i do alot of trail riding and juz some open feild messing around I would really like to juz run 93 pump gas and i ride like everyday i go through a tank every 2 days and a tank and a half Saturday and Sunday
As for the pipe i would really like to get a curtis sparks but should i go big core or standered core?

and as for shocks, has anyone ran the stock fox shocks off of the older SE polaris predator
Are they any better than stock 450r shocks?
and has anyone evey ran fox floats?
if so did u like them

I rode a pred and the front shocks felt real nice for stock shocks. I think they are way too long, though.

as for shocks get some stock ltr450 or kfx450 they ride very nice and make it sit a little lower but not enough to really make you bottom out. they lower it like 1-2 inches. id get the quiter of the two exhausts i ave the loudest exhaust in mine and it is obnoxios it gets to the point some times where it really isnt fun to ride but then when your done you need hearing aids for 3-4 hours, but hey it was $50 cant complain for that

ok ive been looking around for different shocks and ive found a couple like a used set of elkas with the rezzie for 250$$
then there was a nice set of pep for 200$ but they needed one of the small top springs replace
Which do u think is better

My 400ex beats piped 450r's, raptors, banshee's all day long...

As long as they arent cam'd or bored out.
