I bought this localy have a clean oregon title for it.
Heres what it is :
A 1985 atc 250r with the aftermarket four wheeler conversion.
(I think its an astro kit) Its pretty rough, the frames good, but the steering needs new bearings and some of the ball joints are shot.
I was going to use it for a project but scrapped the idea.
So now I want to sell it and try to recover some of my money.
No motor or electronics, the rear brakes are shot. front plastic shot, over all pretty rough.
It needs work but if your a collector, or just have a ATC that you want to be a quad this may be just the thing for you?
I want $400 for it,my guess is shipping would cost a fortune, I will try to get a pic up soon.

title in your name? I would be interested in just the frame and title(I'd prefer it NOT being a MSO). I need a titled frame to make my frame projects much easier to reg/ins.

Im not sure what you mean by "MSO"
It is a actual title, not in my name the previous owners but he sighned it off to me on the back (thats how you transfer them in oregon) and dident date it.

A mso is that piece of paper that you get when you buy most atv/dirtbikes. Its usually yellowish in color, it says the manufactorer on it, engine number, hp rated, vin and it usually has something on it to the effect of "for off-road use only", it can be either in several words or a long paragraph. For NJ, atv's require a notarized bill of sale tracing it back to the last registered or owner listed on on the mso.

We get those as well they are white in oregon and call a vehicle certifict of origin. And are kind of a pain to turn into a title.
The one I have is a actual title.

I have never seen one of these before. I noticed that it is a honda trike frame with a LT250R front end welded on to it. I should try this with a 85 200X trike I can buy cheap and a 400ex frame I have.

why would you want to do that? atc's handle better as a 3 wheeler than they did with this set-up on it.. this would be cool for a collector but i dont know why you would want to ruin a 200x and a good 400ex frame, 200x's handle great as a trike!! as did the atc250r.. thats why this kits are so rare. they didnt work and nobody wanted them..

Just to see if I can do it.

What style of front fenders did these kits use ? trx250r ?

those used something like a cross of a Suzuki lt230 and trike radiator shroud. Every kit used a different front fender. Maier made the fenders for most of the 3-4 kits. I think they are ugly as sin and as others have said, makes the trikes handle way worse. A 83-87 200x is an awesome handling trike, its nearly perfect for most users. I love mine. I never rode a 81-84 250r, 86/87 tecate or tri-z and briefly rode a 350x. As others know I had several 85/86 atc250r's. The reason why those aren't around anymore is because of the demand. In the late 80's, trikes(because of the consumer products stupidity commison) were taboo and considered dangerous and people would almost give them away. And therefore people would buy these for a song and spend $600-$800 on a conversion kit to have a quad for far less. Most found out how bad it made them handle and cut the conversion thing off and made it a trike again. During the 90's sport quads were so cheap, that it didn't make sense to convert a trike to a quad.

I don't have the money right now to buy the frame, but when I have the money to spare, the frame will sit unused and it will only be worth the vin on the neck and title. If anything, I may re-sell the thing w/o the neck on the frame and weld the neck onto my next custom trike.

I'm sure the reason why the kit's made the trike handle bad is because it's a LT250r front end with no rake. I will be using a 400ex frame so the geometry will be way better than a lt front end.

I don't see how it's going to wreck the trike. All I need to do is remove the forks and steering, then line up the steering puck on the 400ex frame to where the trike steering was. I don't need to cut anything off the trike frame, I just need to do a little bit of welding. I would be more worried about chopping up a perfectly good 400ex frame.

if the 200x is junk then go for it,if its not then please don't waste that trike.

I have a 200x frame I could sell you that is in great shape for $100 shipped.

I was going to throw it away after I pulled the forks and swing arm anyway.
