wow my axle just did something weird

ok so i was riding and went to do a fish tale and my axle came out of the swingarm..like the axle nut wasnt locked..is this what happen??

sounds like you didnt have the c clip on the axle

hold up..what the heck is a c clip?? ive owned the 4 wheeler for awhile..

look by the axle nut and the axle nut butts up to the c clip, there is a groove on the axle that holds it.

look at number 11, i think thats what your missing

ok so ive tightend everything down..should there be any side to side play in the axle??

not at all. I dont think any of mine ever moved. I know my 400ex one doesnt

If you loosen the axle nut towards the swingarm, you will eventually see a groove in the axle. The clip will sit in this groove. Then tighten the axle nut against it.

the c clip wont stay in place..i dont know whats wrong..i put the clip in the groove then tightend down the axle nut..but the axle still slides right thro the swingarm..im baffled

hmm thats odd. Is the threads on the axle stripped?
