Consumers pay more than corporate accounts, but...

our company shipped electric logsplitters, 125lbs. 1.5x4' box on its own pallet. We paid anywhere from $30-55 depending on where in the US it was going one year we did UPS, the next fedex. So yeah that sounds high to me

The above is correct.
Shipping plastic can cost as much or more than the plastic itself.

if you put them in a box. you can wrap them in bubble wrap then put shrink wrap around that. costs like $25-35.

well if you pay over $1000 for an engine you dont want it thrown in a box and sent us mail. I plan to bubble wrap it, put it in a cooler, and ship it UPS thats why its $150 if u want to buy it i will ship it any way you want but i wont want to see what it will look like on the other end.

It all depends on how far it's going..I have shipped a few sets like that across the US and it was around $100...The plastic is still big..in a box or by itself.

I charge 100 for shipping an engine on ebay..I buy a contaner and peanuts and ship it..It costs anywhere from $30-$100 depending on the location, plus the cost of materials and my time.

Get real! The average cost to ship an engine in the USA is $45.00 FEDEX!Here's a link on how to ship an engine, http://ctracing.com/shipping_instructions.htm .I've bought three engines off of ebay and have sold two engines on ebay.If you want to include the maybe $15.00 plastic tote from Walmart, your still only up to $60.00!

I send motors all over the US and abroad.
43 pounds goes for 30-40 bucks or so depending on where (in the US).
That's UPS ground.
Overnight to Texas is 125. :D
You have to understand, If I was to take the same to a UPS place, it'd cost more. I send out thru a aftermarket manufacturer. They pay less cuz of volume.
This could be why prices vary.

I just picked up a 450R motor for a friend it was shipped ups in a cooler from AZ to MI it cost $68.35. And a four stroke motor is a hellava lot heaver then a 2 stroke motor.People who jack the shipping up to make a buck i just stay away from...Good luck with the sale.

Some of you guys crack me up. I just shipped a set of front shocks from Las Vegas to Michigan a week or so ago. Cost me $40. I don't see how you guys can ship a complete motor for $45 - $50. In my experience with shipping, there is no way I could ship one for that price. Plus you also have to figure in the cost of insurance. The shocks I shipped I insured at $800, that added $10 to the shipping cost right there. I have tried to ship plastics also, $85 to ship to the next state over, didn't matter if it was in a box or not. I wish I could ship stuff for what some of you guys think it would be shipped for, truth is, I can't. I have tried both UPS and Fedex, I have not seen much of a difference in price from either one of them.

I can fully see that it could cost well over $100 to ship a motor. By the time you buy a GOOD box to put it in, (Yeah, a normal box would not hold up to well.) packing materials, insure it for what you sold it for, then depending on where it has to go, it could be $150 to ship it. Do any of you complaining about the price of shipping actually plan on buying this motor?

I just shipped a 250r frame out yesterday from Ohio to Vermont for $118.00 through FEDEX.Your engine is definitly super nice! That inner Hinson clutch hub is like gold! And having the side case with the whole Hinson set up is a sweet deal for someone. The Curtis Sparks pipe with that engine would make it worth it for someone to go ahead and push buy it now.The problem is that if you have to ship the engine with the pipe, your shipping will go up because of the increased size of the box.I'm a Union Carpenter here in Ohio, and I will not use UPS.UPS is Union and the same box will be cheaper to ship through FEDEX.Fedex is non Union.Actually the prices that the engines have been going for on ebay, the $150.00 for shipping would be worth it,if someone used the buy it now,and got the Sparks full set up and the carb.Sorry for being harsh, because I will not be buying your engine.I built an entire 250r,every piece except for the shocks off of ebay,a few years ago. That's alot of parts to complete my quad, and it seemed like it was a fifty fifty chance dealing with the sellers being honest.
This link is the best way to ship unless your going to be building a complete wooden box:

The piece of wood in the bottom is very important!Just so that you know, two of the engines that I bought off of ebay were shipped through UPS just like this and the boxes were both dropped and cracked. One was so bad that the engine was falling out of the bottom. The engines that I shipped myself through FEDEX just like this made it safely!Just sharing my experience. Also is your cases in good condition(drain plug, case saver)for that kind of money,it will be good to let people know!Keith(k7mm)

hmm. about a year ago i purchased a pair of 450R shocks. had them shipped for $15. i dont remember where they were coming from exactly, but i know it was out of state. $150 still sounds high to me... unless you are asking for labor to pull the motor out of the bike too? i mean thats double what the going rate seems to be. and since when do you have to be a buyer of an ebay auction to to reply to a post someone made on this forum?

The piece of wood in the bottom is very important!Just so that [/B]

OEM I work for ships out thousands of motors per year, 15/17hp Briggs and Kawasaki. We just use 18x18x18" cardboard boxes and packing foam. We ship with both fedex and UPS and don't have problems. Its all in how you pack it. If your crankshaft, or any other hard material is touching the side of the box it will definitely get damaged.

Just make sure its buffered all the way around with lots and lots of styrofoam and you'll be fine
