thankyou so much i need to get it running for this weekend. would this be making it knock?

very well could be, they tend to make quite a bit of noise when they get out of adjustment a bit. if anything it is cheap assurance and if it is still doing this then that can be ruled out. steve

well the valves were just barely off so im lost on whats knocking. could it be the cam or chain?

With an 04 the cam chain can be starting to get wore out a bit. If it starts to wear it can start to make noise, it starts to slap the slides a bit more and make noise. i would also take your tensioner off and make sure it is functioning properly, it should go out by itself but should not go in at all without turning the flat head screw in from the back side. there is a tool to lock it but if two of you do it you can hold the tensioner in until it is bolted down then release it to get the proper tension again. steve
