thats going to be expensive. the connecting rod looks like a dogs leg and the rest looks like a bomb went off in your combudtion chamber.

Gotta' love it. No valves to drop, no cams or cam gears to fail, no timing chains, nothing. Just a piston in a cylinder with a solid piece of aluminum head. haha.

and if they are jetted right and proper oil mix ratio they will run for years without an issue.

while you got it tore down that far might as well just split the cases and throw in a stroker crank :D :macho

RIDE RED!!!

hahah

once i stopped racing and got looking at riding stuff just for fun i went to 2 strokes, something about just a piston and some reeds is more appealing than that whole 4 stroke head

thats rough...

I have always said. Once this happens to me. I am gonna do a stroker with a stock bore. Might as well as the stroker cranks arent that much more than a stock length.

are they any less reliable? thats all i care about any more. i have 3 blown motors right now. and not a dime to fix any of them

why do they keep blowing up?

Sjorge450R

eh. It depends. As long as everything is balanced most will have about the same reliablity. Maybe do a little calmer build then you have been doing.

Change engine builders. If you havent had luck with the same guy, its time to go.

Are you keeping up with your maintance and such too? The valves get out of adjustment really fast on those second gen R's. Maybe just a milder cam would do the trick for you.

my 460 is actually more reliable than my 440 and is actually supposed to run cooler. but i guess it all depends on what you initially do to the engine other than the stroker crank

motor #1 = used, didnt know what it had been threw, crank locked up one day.

motor#2 = bought 2006 CRF250r. rode it for a month, crank locked up.

Motor #3 = this motor

this is the first motor that has ever messed up from my motor builder. the other 2 motors were chitty luck with used stuff. probably ran it out of oil, so they sold it before it messed up on them. and i keep my stuff pretty up dated. changing oil every couple of hours and checking valves often

sorry about your bad luck. but i do know sometimes machines just break, no matter how well they are maintained.

floating and dropping a valve like that sucks man, just try to keep up with the maintanence of the valve train and keeping it all in spec.

I have an 07 450r and motor is still bone stock, i have yet to pull the head or crack open the case and it still runs. So hopefully your luck will improve after you rebuild it.
