If you're talking about the airbrushed HJC, then get it. That thing is awesome :D

At first I was like ugh ghey but then I thought it actually looked pretty sick! I don't think it would look too good as an off-road helmet, but for a street bike it would be badass!

K good haha.

I think it would definitely look sweet then.... especially since your CBR is black.

HJC does not make a very good street helmet. I wouldnt do it at all. You are paying for a paint job on a cheap helmet. I would at least get a Shoei if I was getting a custom air brushed design on a helmet.

i've crash tested a few hjc helmets and i still ride with hjc. shoei makes great products and the quality is matched with price. so its up to you how much your head is worth to you. but i do not buy helmets without being able to try them on....

I've never heard really anything bad about HJC until today. I realize the helmet isn't the best but I never thought of HJC as chitty helmets?

I used to work at a Cycle Gear, and WOW the things you see and the things you learn when protective gear is your job. Just like with most cheap helmets... all the hardware will be broken quickly.... the composite materials aren't as good...and to be honest, they usually aren't near as comfortable.

in ten years of riding, several soil samples and hard use of hjc and the only thing that i have had break is the arm on the visor to adjust the height of it, happened in a wreck. pretty dam good track record to me, so that's why i use them still.

ya shoei is really good and i'd love to have one they are comfortable and among the top of the line so they'd be a good choice. but they don't make entry level helmets either so when you say "cheap" helmets your probably getting feed back on 80 dollar helmet that people expect to perform like a 500 shoei and sling and throw them around with little thought of this protects my head, maybe i should take care of it. so you are comparing two different things really one company sells to all areas of the market and one sells to the upper area of the market.

This is for a STREET helmet..not dirt. Big difference when you are looking for a street helmet. Do I want to protect my head going 150+mph on the front straight at TWS with a $120 helmet? Nope! Not me! No way!

Well regardless I don't want to shell out 500 dollars for a helmet. I do understand its a "brain bucket" but if the helmet passes safety tests I can't really see the point?

if youre spending $340 on an HJC...you can buy a solid color Shoei RF1000 for about $200 now from their original price... they are all on clearance bc they came out with the RF1100. You can get your own custom pain job and have exactly what you want, plus a better quality helmet for probably not much more than what you would pay for that HJC...

but hey its not my money... go ahead and do what you like. I am just trying to give an opinion like everyone else on here does. I just have seen quite a bit from where I worked, the shop I help run now, from racing, and the track days I do....so I tried to put in my $.02

I've never knew you could get one that cheap I might have to look into this.

EDIT: I don't see any below $260 but still that's cheap...

the sale that was going on for forever must have already run out then..it went on for quite a while..a few months at least. Still $260 is a good price. I can vouch for an RF1000- I have used them very well and it has held up to impacts and saved me.

How much do they run?

You can get a used rotary style one for about $250 (scotts or GPR), brand new they run 400 or so
The linear ones like mine around around 550-700, I got lucky and got a hell of a deal on mine though

I think it would interfere with you’re vision.

Guessing linear ones are better then?

they are, but if you are a recreational rider, the rotary ones will work just fine.

Looks cool and thats what I thought. I love riding without goggles on the ATV just because no matter what goggles you have they do restrict vision.

HJC helmets are not that bad as long as if they have a DOT and SNELL approval you shoudl have nothing to worry about. I ran HJC helmets for a while until i found something more comfortable. There is an article somewhere I believe in dirtwheels about cheap and expensive helmets and the tests they did will blow you mind about how safe they are. You want the helmet to absorb and deflect impact and if they break during impact but keep their structural integrity it did its job.

In all honesty if you crash at 150++mph your survival rate is pretty slim especially if you hit something at that speed.

I'd say buy the helmet but thats an expensive paint job if anything.
