Cam Chain Slack?

I heard a rattling and ticking noise in my top end. I tore it apart and all my valves are in spec. The clymer manual doesn't say anything about cam chain slack. Can a manual chain tensioner be a temporary fix if I do need a new chain? thanks

I am 100% sure that ive read a forum before that someone said that if you get a manual chain tensioner that yes you can get some more usage from that chain. But if you already got it apart just get another chain instead of getting a tensioner, the chains already stretched but its up to you. Another option its to upgrade, I have the DID one thats thicker to hold up with my hot cams.

Ok thanks. But just for now will the tensioner stop the ticking?

I dont know if it will make it stop ticking. I would imagine it would at least make it quieter, hope it works out.
