Time to put on your thinking caps. Back in '04, at the Big Buck GNCC, I remember seeing a 450R with a strange shock and linkage set up that I've never seen since. I'm not sure if it was a Pro's quad or an amateur class racer but it surely wasn't anywhere close to stock. If my memeory serves me correctly, the shock was almost straight up and down similar to a CR500 setup on a 250R and the linkage was similar also. Being it was early '04 and there wasn't a lot of aftermarket stuff available yet, I'm sure the chassis was stock, but I didn't get a good look at the swinger. Anybody remember ever seeing anything like this?

I can't think of the guys name but he ran a CR500 linkage. Chopped the frame up and had a PEP shock. Jathan Seale was his name

i know jathan seale. it was a 400ex frame with a 450r motor. he never ran a fan cause he didnt have the clearance and he was fast.

he races dirt track cars now. heck of a nice guy, he smoked my arse to may times over in arkansas.

if you know or heard of spencer dickerson he is jathans protoge.

jathan ran pro am that year.

If I'm not mistaken several companies made aftermarket frames/swingarms setup for use with the CR500 style linkage. I know Laegers off top of my head did for sure.

I don't think this was a 400 frame. I was definitely production 450R stuff except for that rear shock set-up. I remember the ride height was very low.

Keep in mind, this was March of '04. There's wasn't that much development time on these quads yet. Possibly a modified stock frame, and an aftermarket swinger.

It was Jathan Seale and it was a 450r chassis.
Ride height was really low. He said it worked good.

Norris Quinn had a CR500 linked 250R in the early 2000's. I remember seeing a few others prior to 04 as well.

Any chance somebody out there might have close-up pics of it.

Look at the pic from the 04 GNCC races. JB racing probably did the mod.
