Rear shock breakage on DS90x

Has anyone had a rear shock break at the lower pivot point on a DS90X. (The shock fractured, not the mounting bracket on the swing arm) Could there be a misalignment between the upper and lower shock mounts or could it be a defective shock?
I have never seen anything like this happen before!
I need to get to the bottom of this before I invest in a new rear shock.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We had the mount fail not the shock it self. I do have a new elka rezzy with comp and rebound let me know.
